On February 17, 2022, a non-DOJ individual assigned as a Special Agent with the United States Postal Inspection Service was indicted on one count of obstructing criminal investigations or prosecutions and one count of tampering with a witness. James C. McFeely was indicted in the Superior Court of the State of Arizona. According to the Indictment, on or about December 4, 2020, McFeely intimidated a victim and witnesses through words and showing a badge, in order to prevent communication of information of a felony to peace officers and cause the witnesses to withhold testimony. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Tucson Area Office, U.S. Postal Service OIG, and Bisbee PD.
