On June 9, 2022, a former USMS Contract Nurse previously assigned to the Leavenworth Detention Center (Leavenworth) in Kansas was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and two years of supervised release for one count of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a prison. Jeane Arnette was sentenced in the District of Kansas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about July 2021 through in or about September 2021, Arnette used her position at Leavenworth to conspire with others to smuggle contraband, including cellular phones, tobacco, food, and papers, into the facility. Further, according to the factual statement, Arnette used a Cash App account to send and receive payments at the request of an inmate. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Field Office and the FBI.
