On October 30, 2025, Trevor Neill, an Information Technology Specialist assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Houston, Texas, pleaded guilty in the Southern District of Texas to one count of impersonating a government official and one count of false documents and agreed to pay restitution of $11,200. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, Neill ran a side business selling prepackaged snack boxes. In or about December 2023, Neill used an official envelope to send a letter impersonating an Assistant U.S. Attorney and threatening a snack competitor with legal action for unauthorized sales. In addition, on two occasions in 2021, Neill submitted falsified military orders to obtain military leave, even though he had been discharged from the military in December 2020. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Houston Office and Investigative Analyst of the OIG’s Dallas Office.
