On April 2, 2026, a former DEA Task Force Officer (TFO) previously assigned to the Detroit Division was sentenced to 90 days incarceration in the Medina County Jail for attempted abduction. Daniel Lajack was sentenced in the Court of Common Pleas for Medina County, Ohio. According to the factual basis in support of the complaint, in April 2024, Lajack and Donald Kopchack, an ATF TFO, unlawfully restrained a local bar patron. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Midwest Region, the FBI, and the Hinkley Police Department; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
