On August 10, 2021, a former DEA contract linguist previously assigned to the DEA San Jose Regional Office pleaded guilty to one count of giving unlawful notice of electronic surveillance. Liliana Moreno pleaded guilty in the Northern District of California. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about March 17, 2018, Moreno alerted a friend, who was the significant other of an individual (“Wire Target”) who had been intercepted on a wiretap, about an ongoing DEA investigation. According to the factual statement, Morena intended that her friend convey the information to the Wire Target so that the Wire Target could avoid being intercepted in the future. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG's Los Angeles Field Office.
