Former DEA Contractor Charged with Unlawful Disclosure of Electronic Surveillance

On February 9, 2021, a former DEA Spanish translator contract employee previously assigned to the DEA San Jose Regional Office was charged with one count of unlawful disclosure of electronic surveillance.  Liliana Moreno was charged by criminal Complaint in the Northern District of California.  According to the Complaint, in or about March 2018, Moreno alerted the fiancée of an intercepted subject about an ongoing DEA investigation, leading to a disruption in the case after the subject and several others ceased using their intercepted phones.  A summons was issued for arraignment set for February 17, 2021.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG's Los Angeles Field Office.
