On September 13, 2022, a former BOP Inmate assigned to the Metropolitan Correctional Center New York (MCC New York) was sentenced to 29 months of imprisonment followed by 3 years of supervised released and ordered to forfeit $13,668 for one count of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud. David Valerio was sentenced in the Southern District of New York. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about October 2019 through in or about April 2020, Valerio participated in a conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud by agreeing to facilitate bribe payments to Correctional Officers at the MCC New York in exchange for prison contraband. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York Field office and the FBI New York Field Office.
