On October 2, 2025, Larry Andrews, a former inmate in the Federal Correctional Institution in Jesup, Georgia (FCI Jesup), pleaded guilty and was sentenced the Southern District of Georgia to five years of probation following an indictment for possession of contraband in prison. According to the plea agreement, Andrews admitted that he purchased cigarettes, a prohibited object, while an inmate at FCI Jesup. Bureau of Prisons Correctional Officer Ashley Brown was charged in the same indictment with conspiring to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances including methamphetamine, K2, and marijuana, and accepting payments via CashApp in exchange for smuggling contraband into FCI Jesup, and previously was arrested. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Charleston Locale.
