On September 14, 2026, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Thomson, in Illinois, was sentenced to 41 months of imprisonment followed by 60 months of supervised release and a $10,000 assessment payable to the Justice for Victims Trafficking Act. Danny Spyker was sentenced in the Northern District of Illinois. According to the evidence presented at trial, Spyker knowingly engaged in sexual acts with two victims under his custodial authority in March 2024. The investigation was conducted by OIG’s Detroit Office.
