Former BOP Correctional Officer Sentenced for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana

On October 17, 2023, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Edgefield (FCI Edgefield) in South Carolina, was sentenced to 4 years of probation for one count of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.  Altemus Johnson was sentenced in the District of South Carolina.  According to the plea agreement, Johnson pleaded guilty to Count 1 of the Indictment, which stated that on or about November 18, 2021, Johnson, knowingly, intentionally, and unlawfully possessed with the intent to distribute marijuana, a schedule I controlled substance.  The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Area Office and the FBI.
