Former BOP Correctional Officer Sentenced for Making False Statements

On August 6, 2026, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Big Spring (FCI Big Spring) in Texas, was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment, one year of supervised release, ordered to pay a $2000 fine and $100 special assessment for providing false statements. Michael Bausinger was sentenced in the Northern District of Texas. According to the factual basis in support of the guilty plea, on or about November 13, 2025, Bausinger knowingly made a materially false statement to a Special Agent employed by the DOJ OIG. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s El Paso Office.
