Former BOP Correctional Officer Sentenced for Impersonating an Officer

On December 16, 2022, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced to a 180-day suspended jail sentence, with one year of unsupervised probation, and ordered to forfeit her BOP credentials for one count of impersonation of an officer.  Alexis Patterson was sentenced in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Fredrick County Circuit Court.  According to the Order in Misdemeanor Proceeding, Patterson entered a plea of nolo contendere to one count of impersonating an officer, as charged in the Indictment, which stated that on or about September 6, 2021, Patterson falsely identified herself as a law enforcement officer. The investigation was conducted by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Frederick County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the OIG’s New York Field Office.
