On February 17, 2022, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix (FCI Fort Dix) in New Jersey was sentenced to 26 months of imprisonment and 3 years of supervised released for one count of bribery of a public official. Paul Wright was sentenced in the District of New Jersey. As part of his guilty plea, Wright agreed to forfeit $50,000 in United States currency. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about February 2015 through in or about December 2015, Wright agreed to accept and accepted cash bribes in exchange for smuggling contraband, including tobacco, K2 (synthetic marijuana), and suboxone to inmates at FCI Fort Dix. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s New Jersey Area Office.
