On September 2, 2020, a BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the McRae Correctional Facility, McRae, Georgia, was sentenced to 3 years of probation and fined $2,500 for one count of bribery of a public official. Michael Kerr was sentenced in the Southern District of Georgia. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about May 17, 2018, Kerr accepted a bribery payment of $640 in exchange for bringing prohibited objects into the McRae Correctional Facility. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Area Office.
