On July 30, 2020, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Complex Forrest City (FCC Forrest City) in Arkansas was sentenced to twelve months plus one day of imprisonment and one year of supervised release for bribery of a public official. Josue Duane Garza was sentenced in the Eastern District of Arkansas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about October 2017 through in or about July 2018, Garza received and accepted money, in excess of $40,000, from inmates in exchange for smuggling contraband into the FCC Forrest City. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
