On February 9, 2023, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Dublin (FCI Dublin) in California, was sentenced to 20 months of incarceration followed by 10 years of supervised release for one count of abusive sexual contact. Enrique Chavez was sentenced in the Northern District of California. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, in or about October 2020, Chavez knowingly engaged in sexual contact with a BOP inmate by intentionally touching the victim’s genitals and breasts in a sexual manner. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Los Angeles Field Office and the FBI, with substantial efforts by OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
