Former BOP Correctional Officer Pleaded Guilty to Wire Fraud

On August 11, 2020, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Complex in Lompoc, California, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud.  Roger Harris pleaded guilty in the Central District of California.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on an unknown date through on or about October 5, 2015, Harris, as President of the American Federation of Government Employees Local Union 3048 (Local 3048), submitted claims for reimbursement utilizing falsified receipts and invoices.  As a result, Harris defrauded the Local 3048 of approximately $36,150.78.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Seattle Domicile Office and the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General, with forensic assistance provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
