On May 14, 2026, Jessie Spears, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Terre Haute (FCI Terre Haute) in Indiana, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 360 days of home confinement for two counts of visiting a common nuisance. Spears was previously charged via Information with conspiracy to traffic contraband with an inmate and visiting a common nuisance (i.e., a place used to buy or sell unlawful alcoholic beverages or prescription drugs, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, or acts performed by human trafficking victims). According to the Information, Spears conspired with others to introduce Suboxone into the Putnamville, Indiana Correctional Facility. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Office with assistance from the Putnam County, Indiana Sheriff’s Office.
