On March 11, 2026, former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the United States Penitentiary Beaumont (USP Beaumont) in Texas, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment for one count of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. Martel Davante Gilliam was sentenced in the Eastern District of Texas. According to the factual basis in support of the guilty plea, on March 8, 2024, a search of Gilliam’s vehicle in the parking lot of USP Beaumont revealed approximately 125 grams of methamphetamine, 28 grams of cocaine, 459 grams of synthetic marijuana, vacuum sealed packages of tobacco and marijuana, and $5,700 cash. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Houston Office and the FBI.
