Former BOP Correctional Officer Indicted and Arrested for Introduction of Contraband and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana

On April 24, 2023, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Edgefield (FCI Edgefield) in South Carolina was arrested following an Indictment charging him with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and introduction of contraband.  Altemus Johnson was charged in the District of South Carolina.  According to the Indictment, on or about November 18, 2021, Johnson knowingly, intentionally, and unlawfully possessed with the intent to distribute marijuana at FCI Edgefield and attempted to provide marijuana to an inmate of FCI Edgefield. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Area Office and the FBI.
