On July 20, 2020, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution in Yazoo City, Mississippi, was arrested following an Indictment charging him with one count of bribery. Wesley Hughes was indicted on July 14, 2020, in the Southern District of Mississippi. According to the Indictment, from on or about April 1, 2018, through on or about March 1, 2019, Hughes did corruptly demand, seek, receive, accept and agree to accept United States currency in return for providing prohibited objects to a federal inmate of a prison. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Area Office and the FBI.
