Former BOP Correctional Officer Arrested for Bribery and Introduction of Contraband

On December 4, 2025, Lakeisha James, a former BOP Correctional Officer at the Federal Correctional Institution in Talladega, Alabama (FCI Talladega), was indicted in the Northern District of Alabama for bribery and providing contraband to a federal prisoner. According to the Indictment, from in or about February 1, 2025, through April 15, 2025, James accepted monetary bribes to smuggle cigarettes into FCI Talladega. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Charleston Locale and the FBI.
