Former BOP Contract Correctional Officer Arrested and Pleaded Guilty to Bribery

On August 30, 2023, a former GEO Group, Inc., (GEO) Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Flightline Correctional Center, a BOP contract facility located in Big Spring, Texas, was arrested and pleaded guilty to an Information charging him with one count of bribery of a public official.  Sabastien Sanchez-Ortiz pleaded guilty in the Northern District of Texas.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about March 2021 through on or about May 15, 2021, Sanchez-Ortiz received approximately $30,630.75 from inmates in exchange for bringing contraband cell phones into the institution.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office.
