On February 28, 2023, a former BOP and USMS Contract Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) Elkton, Ohio, and the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center (NEOCC) in Youngstown, Ohio, was charged with one count of bribery of a public official and five counts of providing contraband to an inmate. Nasher Algahim was charged in the Northern District of Ohio. According to the Information, from on or about March 6, 2017, through on or about January 16, 2021, Algahim accepted monetary bribes in exchange for introducing contraband, namely marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, and an electronic recording device, into FCI Elkton and the NEOCC. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Field Office and the FBI.
