On February 22, 2022, an FBI Special Agent assigned to the New York Division pleaded guilty to one count of conversion of government money. Scott F. Carpenter was indicted in the District of Nevada. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on or about July 27, 2017, through on or about to July 31, 2017, Carpenter and three other FBI agents traveled to Las Vegas to conduct an undercover operation. At the conclusion of the operation, Carpenter went to a casino’s high limit room, where he gambled on blackjack with $13,500 belonging to the United States. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Miami Field Office, with assistance from the OIG’s New York Field Office’s Investigative Analyst and the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
