FBI Training and Civic Liaison Specialist Charged with Theft

On June 30, 2020, an FBI Training and Civic Liaison Specialist assigned to the Las Vegas Field Office was charged with theft.  Tonya Fortson was charged by a felony criminal Complaint filed in the Justice Court, Las Vegas Township of the State of Nevada.  According to the criminal Complaint, from on or about November 5, 2015, through on or about January 8, 2017, Fortson unlawfully obtained $650 or more from the Las Vegas FBI Recreation Association (FBIRA) by using her position as treasurer of the FBIRA and control of the FBIRA’s bank account debit card and/or monies to make unauthorized purchases for her own personal use with the intent to deprive the FBIRA of said property.  A summons was issued for an arraignment set for August 31, 2020.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Los Angeles Field Office.
