FBI Special Agent Sentenced for False Statements

On May 1, 2026, An FBI Special Agent was sentenced to one year of supervised probation and ordered to pay a $1200 fine and $100 special assessment for providing false statements. Mose Countryman was sentenced in the Western District of Louisiana. According to the factual basis in support of the guilty plea, on or about December 17, 2024, Countryman willfully and knowingly made a materially false statement when he reported to FBI management that his government issued Colt M-4 carbine rifle had been stolen from his FBI vehicle when he knew the firearm had been missing since on or about August 2, 2024. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s El Paso Office.
