FBI Special Agent Pleads Guilty False Statement

On January 29, 2026, an FBI Special Agent was arrested and pleaded guilty following an information charging him with one count of false statements. Mose Countryman pleaded guilty to an Information filed in the Eastern District of Texas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about December 17, 2024, Countryman did willfully and knowingly make a materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statement and representation by telling an employee of the FBI that his government issued firearm had been stolen from his vehicle which he then and there knew that statement and representation was false fictitious and fraudulent when made because he had been unable to account for the firearm since August 2, 2024, and did not report it as lost. The firearm was seized in September 2024 in connection with a criminal incident. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s El Paso Office.
