Ex-board Member of Montana Native Women’s Coalition Admits to Theft of Grant Funds


On January 21, 2021, the former Treasurer of the Montana Native Women’s Coalition (MNWC) pleaded guilty to one count of theft of public funds in connection with a Department of Justice grant.  Barbara Daychief pleaded guilty in the District of Montana.  According to the plea agreement, Daychief pleaded guilty to a one-count Information, which stated that from in or about 2017 through in or about 2018, Daychief knowingly converted money for her own use, with the intention of depriving the United States of the use and benefit of such money, in an amount exceeding $1,000.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Denver Field Office.
