On November 5, 2025, Demarcus Bell and Joshua Whigan, two inmates in the Federal Correctional Facility – Jesup (FCI Jesup), pleaded guilty in the Southern District of Georgia and were sentenced to one month of imprisonment to be served consecutively, following an indictment for possession of contraband in prison. According to the Indictment, Bell and Whigan purchased contraband, to include a cell phone, marijuana, and K-2, all of which were smuggled into FCI Jesup by BOP Correctional Officer Ashley Brown, who also was charged in the indictment. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Charleston Locale.
