On July 7, 2022, a BOP Inmate formerly assigned to the Metropolitan Correctional Center New York (MCC New York) pleaded guilty to one count of honest services wire fraud. Donnell Murray pleaded guilty in the Southern District of New York. According to the plea agreement, Murray pleaded guilty to the second count of the indictment, which provides that, from in or about October 2019 through in or about April 2020, Murray knowingly and willfully conspired with Correctional Officers at the MCC New York to smuggle contraband into the prison in exchange for money that was paid to the Correctional Officers via electronic payments, thereby intentionally depriving the BOP of the honest services by their employees. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York Field Office and the FBI.
