BOP Inmate Pleaded Guilty and Sentenced for Bribery of a Public Official

On January 23, 2023, a BOP Inmate previously assigned to Federal Correctional Complex Forrest City (FCC Forrest City) in Arkansas was sentenced to 37 months of incarceration, to be served consecutively to his current sentence, for bribery of a public official.  Derrick Sanders, who pleaded guilty on the same day, was sentenced in the Eastern District of Arkansas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about January 2017 through in or about February 2019, Sanders had his friends and family send a correctional officer money numerous times in exchange for the introduction of tobacco and alcohol into the FCC Forrest City.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office, with assistance provided by OIGs Cyber Investigation Office.
