BOP Correctional Officer Sentenced for Theft of Government Property

On September 18, 2023, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the United States Penitentiary McCreary in Pine Knot, Kentucky, was sentenced to 2 years of probation and $300 in restitution for theft of United States property.  Austin Z. Flynn was sentenced in the Eastern District of Kentucky.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, in or about August 2019, Flynn knowingly and intentionally requested and received per diem payments from the United States to which he knew he was not entitled. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Lexington Domicile Office and the FBI.
