BOP Correctional Officer Pled Guilty to Bribery and Sexual Abuse

On July 16, 2026, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the U.S. Penitentiary Coleman 2 (USP Coleman 2) in Florida, pled guilty to receiving a bribe as a public official, as well as sexual abuse of a ward. Cornelius Thompson pleaded guilty in the Middle District of Florida. According to the investigation, Thompson received bribery payments via Cash App for introducing narcotic contraband into USP Coleman 2, and providing them to an identified inmate, with whom he was engaged in a sexual relationship. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Ocala Locale.
