On February 10, 2026, a former BOP Correctional Officer, Sandra Munagay, who was assigned to the U. S. Penitentiary in Atwater, California, pleaded guilty in the Eastern District of California to one count of falsification of records. According to the Plea Agreement, on November 2, 2023, Sandra Munagay physically assaulted an inmate and subsequently falsified BOP records to conceal her actions. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Santa Rosa Locale.
