BOP Correctional Officer Pleaded Guilty to False Statements


On February 13, 2023, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, pleaded guilty to one count of providing false statements.  Arcadia Zorrilla-Hernandez pleaded guilty in the District of Puerto Rico.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about August 14, 2019, Zorrilla-Hernandez did willfully and knowingly make a materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statement and representation by telling Special Agents of the OIG and FBI during a voluntary interview that Zorilla-Hernandez did not speak and communicate, and had not spoken and communicated, with the family members of an inmate while the inmate was in custody of the BOP.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Miami Field Office and the FBI.
