BOP Correctional Officer Indicted for Sexual Abuse of an Inmate

On February 17, 2022, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Dublin (FCI Dublin) in California was indicted on one count of sexual abuse of a ward.  John Russell Bellhouse was charged in the Northern District of California.  According to the Indictment, from in or about February 2020 through in or about October 2020, Bellhouse engaged in oral sex with an inmate at FCI Dublin.  Bellhouse was previously arrested on December 2, 2021, following a criminal Complaint charging him with one count of sexual abuse of a ward. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Los Angeles Field Office and the FBI, with forensic assistance provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
