BOP Correctional Officer Charged with One Count of Wire Fraud

On July 15, 2025, a BOP Correctional Officer, Jere Bolden, assigned to the Federal Correctional Complex Beaumont (FCC Beaumont), in Texas, was charged by Information with one count of wire fraud.  According to the Information, from in or about April 2021 through in or about October 2021, Bolden caused to be electronically transmitted a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan application, knowing it contained false information, by certifying she paid employee salaries, payroll taxes, and independent contractors, for a business that did not exist; Bolden allegedly received a loan in the amount of $20,832, which was eventually forgiven by the Small Business Administration (SBA).  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Houston Office with assistance from the OIG’s Dallas Office Investigative Analyst, the Department of Homeland Security OIG, and the Department of Labor OIG.
