Oversight of the $5 Billion Provided to the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Public Law 119-21

The OIG is performing oversight of the BOP's planning and execution of the $5 billion provided by Public Law 119-21 for BOP salaries, personnel benefits, and infrastructure through a series of oversight products consistent with Senate Report 119-44 (2026). The initial product is a visualization on the OIG’s public website that tracks the BOP’s plans for and uses of the $5 billion in supplemental funding. Subsequent products and updates to the visualization will be forthcoming.
