On June 8, 2026, U.S. Border Patrol Agent working as a DEA Task Force Officer (TFO) was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Raymundo Ramos was charged in Cameron County, Texas, District Court. According to the arrest warrant and criminal complaint, on January 31, 2025, Ramos struck a Mexican national with his DEA TFO issued vehicle as he attempted to arrest him for immigration violations during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) multi-agency operation in Harlingen, Texas. The investigation is being conducted jointly by DHS OIG and DOJ OIG.
