On June 16, 2022, a former USMS Contract Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Leavenworth Detention Center (Leavenworth) in Kansas, was sentenced to 17 months of imprisonment and 2 years of supervised release, as well as ordered to forfeit $12,448.50 for one count of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a prison. Willie Golden was sentenced in the District of Kansas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about April 2020 through in or about October 2020, Golden used his position at Leavenworth to conspire with others to receive over $12,400 in exchange for smuggling contraband into the facility. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Field Office and the FBI.
