On February 26, 2021, a former USMS Contract Correctional Officer previously assigned to the East Hidalgo Detention Center in La Villa, Texas, was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for one count of bribery of a public official. Domingo Hernandez was sentenced in the Southern District of Texas. According to the plea agreement, Hernandez pleaded guilty to a one-count Indictment, which stated that that from in or about September 2016 through on or about July 28, 2018, Hernandez corruptly accepted and received United States currency, a truck, and a gift card, in exchange for bringing contraband into the correctional facility and distributing the contraband to federal inmates. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Houston Area Office, the USMS, and FBI, with analyst assistance provided by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office.
