Former USMS Contract Correctional Officer Charged with Conspiracy to Introduce Contraband into a Prison


On March 10, 2022, a former USMS Contract Correctional Officer assigned to the Leavenworth Detention Center (Leavenworth) in Kansas, was charged with one count of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a prison and commit bribery.  Angelica Grant was charged by an Information and made her initial appearance in the District of Kansas.  According to the Information, from in or about 2019 through in or about September 2020, Grant used her position at Leavenworth to conspire with others to personally smuggle contraband, including cellular phones, into the facility and bribe other staff members to do the same.  According to the Information, Grant received at least $42,426 in monetary bribes via Cash App in exchange for her actions.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Field Office and the FBI.
