On July 9, 2026, a former Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Task Force Officer was sentenced for his role in the transportation of visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Timothy Ryan Gegg was sentenced to 84 months imprisonment, followed by 120 months of supervised release. Gregg was also ordered to pay a $35,000 fine and $1,000 in restitution. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, Gregg knowingly transported a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Office, DHS OIG, and the FBI with assistance from the City of Rochester, Minnesota Police Department.
