On June 30, 2026, the former Executive Director of Siren Eaton Shelter, a DOJ grant fund recipient and nonprofit organization that provided housing and other resources to homeless families and survivors of domestic abuse, was sentenced to 24 months of imprisonment, 24 months of supervised release, and $95,193 in restitution. Teri Looney was sentenced in the Western District of Michigan. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, Looney embezzled $95,193 from Siren Eaton Shelter between June 2021 and May 2023. The investigation was conducted by OIG’s Detroit Office with assistance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development OIG and the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
