Former Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent and Task Force Officer Convicted of Conspiracy and Conversion of Property

On June 15, 2021, former DEA Special Agent Chad Scott was found guilty after a seven-day jury trial on one count each of conspiracy and conversion of property of another by an officer or employee of the U.S., and not guilty on one count of removal of property to prevent seizure.  Former Hammond Police Officer and DEA Task Force Officer (TFO) Rodney Gemar was found guilty on one count each of conspiracy, conversion of property of another by an officer or employee of the U.S., and removal of property to prevent seizure.  Scott and Gemar were convicted in the Eastern District of Louisiana.  According to court documents and the evidence presented at trial, from in or about 2009 through in or about 2016, Scott and Gemar, who were part of an interagency drug task force, stole money and other items seized during law enforcement operations, as well as destroyed evidence seized during law enforcement operations.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Houston Area Office, FBI New Orleans, and DEA Office of Professional Responsibility.
