On June 15, 2026, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the U.S. Penitentiary in Atwater, California, was sentenced to four months imprisonment followed by twelve months of supervised release for one count of falsification of records in a federal Investigation. Sandra Munagay was sentenced in the Eastern District of California. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on November 2, 2023, Munagay physically assaulted an inmate and subsequently falsified BOP records to conceal her actions. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Santa Rosa Locale.
