Former BOP Correctional Officer Arrested for Introduction of Contraband

On August 2, 2022, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), Brooklyn, New York, was arrested following a Criminal Complaint charging him with two counts of introduction of contraband.  Jeremy Monk was arrested in the Eastern District of New York.  According to the Criminal Complaint, on April 15, 2022, Monk smuggled more than nine ounces of marijuana into the MDC, which was later recovered from a staff restroom.  Monk allegedly received $10,000 from inmates in exchange for the marijuana and additional contraband. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York Field Office and the FBI.
