On October 26, 2022, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Estill (FCI Estill) located in South Carolina, was arrested and pleaded not guilty to one count of bribery. Ashlee Richardson Barley was charged in the District of South Carolina. According to the Indictment, from in or about November 2019 through in or about April 2020, Richardson Barley accepted monetary bribes in exchange for smuggling contraband items into FCI Estill. The Indictment includes a forfeiture provision that requires Richardson Barley, upon conviction, to forfeit $15,700, which is the sum equal to the amount of bribery payments Richardson Barley allegedly received. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Area Office.
