Former BOP Correctional Officer Arrested and Pleaded Guilty to Making False Statements

On March 26, 2026, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Big Spring (FCI Big Spring) in Texas, was arrested and pleaded guilty following an Information charging him with one count of providing a False Statement to a Federal Agent. Michael Bausinger pleaded guilty in the Northern District of Texas. According to the factual basis in support of the guilty plea, on or about November 13, 2025, Bausinger knowingly made a materially false statement to a special agent employed by the DOJ OIG. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s El Paso Office.
